Description

Let's get Wild in the Wetlands! The LOOP NOLA Wild in the Wetlands program is for teachers seeking safe, science-based, educational field trips for students that allow them to “go wild” exploring the outdoors. This three-hour outdoor experience in New Orleans City Park combines games, hiking, critter catching, and other activities with standards-based science lessons to make learning fun. Our model is grounded in providing youth with opportunities to develop a passion and love for the outdoors through ongoing recreational experiences paired with standards-based environmental education. The program aims to help participants better understand the ecology and importance of nearby wetlands areas with tailored grade-level lesson plans. Students learn about: -wildlife that depends on the wetlands -invasive species that can impact local ecosystems -the role humans play in conservation. At the end of the program, students will understand the physical processes and characteristics that shape the wetlands and the interconnectedness of all organisms that live and thrive there. Pair your trip with our other offerings like canoeing, team-building, or even the LOOP NOLA ropes course for an extra fun day!
