Description
Tulane University’s GiST Program will provide fifth through seventh grade girls with the opportunity to meet and work with both male and female role models in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Workshops developed and offered by faculty and student teams will encourage girls to inquire, investigate, and discover in a science and engineering environment. Our goal is to open the doors wide and welcome young students to careers in STEM fields by encouraging creative thinking, promoting self-esteem, and increasing awareness of the opportunities that await them. A $10 registration fee is required in advance.
Tulane Center for K-12 STEM Education
The Tulane Center for K-12 STEM Education provides hands-on learning opportunities for underserved youth to engage them in learning, experimenting, and interacting with the latest technologies to build 21st century skills. The Center also provides professional development trainings to help teachers at targeted low-income K-8 schools incorporate Louisiana’s new science standards into their classrooms.
