Description
Learn the history of Congo Square in New Orleans. Students will gain an understanding of systems of slavery and Code Noir. Students will sing, dance, and demonstrate a clave rhythm, a tradition in Congo Square with beloved New Orleans culture bearer, musician and educator Bruce Sunpie Barnes .
Preservation Hall Foundation
The Preservation Hall Foundation was established with the mission to protect, preserve and perpetuate the musical and cultural traditions of New Orleans. Preservation Hall Lessons is a free online resources for teachers and is a collection of lesson plans developed by Preservation Hall musicians for all grade levels.
