Description
Sankofa CDC is offering teachers an exciting opportunity at Sankofa's Wetland Park & Nature Trail. Teachers can schedule an educational tour for their students that explores the environmental and scientific values of a wetland park in a community like the Lower 9th Ward. We have educators and ecologists to help with tours allowing us to meet LA STEM standards.
The Wetland Park offers outdoor recreation, STEM education, and green infrastructure job training with hiking, biking, natural play, fishing, birding, and canoeing. Schoolchildren learn about wetland conservation and green infrastructure through water quality testing, flora and fauna species identification, removal of invasive vegetation, and planting of native trees. The Wetland Park also hosts workforce development programs with green infrastructure skills training and career development.
