Description

Designed by professionals working in the industry, our curriculum focuses on providing soft and software skills through engaging and relevant coursework. Our courses not only prepare students to earn a basic statewide credential in an Adobe software program, but also use project-based learning to foster problem-solving, collaborative working, original thinking, cultural awareness, and project management skills.

Students from all learning backgrounds will to create their own content with their own voice after learning with NOVAC. Students will also have the opportunity to access high-wage digital media positions and be equipped with a comprehensive set of 21st century workplace skills. NOVAC students will be part of the next generation of storytellers, designers, makers, technologists, and artists.

CLASS INFO & ELIGIBILITY:

  • Must be a Louisiana resident in grades 8-12 to participate

  • Classes meet in-person on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-7pm

  • 80% attendance required

  • Students that earn an Adobe Credential can receive credit at Delgado Community College

How to Register:

  1. Complete the 2024-25 Interest form – click here

  2. NOVAC will verify youth’s eligibility

  3. NOVAC will email you the class registration and enrollment forms

  4. Submit class registration and enrollment forms

  5. Attend Family Orientation

* * IMPORTANT** Students who are not able to commit to 80% attend will be dropped from the class.

Important Dates:

  • January 21: Family Orientation, 5pm

  • January 23: Spring after school classes begin

  • March 3-7: Mardi Gras Break

  • May 1: Spring after school classes end

  • May 8: BD EOY Show

The youth are our future storytellers, designers, makers, technologists, and artists. The Born Digital Youth Media Program at NOVAC develops young future creatives, ages 8 to 24, from diverse background in South Louisiana who can use digital media training opportunities to develop high wage and low barrier entry to careers.
