Description
Art Camp 504 is a 501(c)3 non-profit that offers advanced art workshops for students of all income levels. Located in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans, we empower students ages 7 - 14 to lead their own creative journeys through exploration and choice, guided by professional artists.
Our internship program is designed for students and young professionals seeking work experience in visual arts, digital media, nonprofit work, and art education. Gain valuable professional skills in a creative and supportive environment while inspiring our youngest artists.
HOLIDAY & SUMMER INTERNSHIPS:
Minimum commitment: One full week of camp, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–3:30 PM
Option to stay until 5:30 PM for aftercare and additional service hours
Drop-in days available for Fall, Winter and Spring Break camps
AFTER SCHOOL INTERNSHIPS:
Commitment: One day per week for the full semester, 5:15 PM–6:45 PM. Option to arrive at 4:30 if available
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist lead teachers in implementing curriculum
Support students with one-on-one guidance to achieve project goals
Contribute to large-scale projects like installations, signs, and props
Help manage art supplies, organize materials, and create signage
Photograph students and projects for documentation and promotional purposes
Engage in fun activities with students, including outdoor games and pool play (optional)
CREATIVE DISCIPLINES:
Visual Arts: Support students in painting, mixed media, sculpture, printmaking, puppetry, and more. Help us create large installations like the House Float!
Performing Arts: Lead acting exercises, improv, dance, and performance activities to get students moving and engaged.
Digital Media & Film: Design social media content for Art Camp 504, photograph projects, and assist students with digital media creations. Build your portfolio while making an impact.
Sewing: Teach students to sew with machines, design patterns, and create wearable art. (Intermediate to advanced sewing skills required.)
Creative Writing: Inspire students with storytelling, poetry, character development, and narrative structure.
INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
Ages 15+
Interest in arts, education, nonprofits, child development, or community work
Attend in person or virtual training prior to first day of class

MEAL STIPENDS & SERVICE Hours:
Holiday and Summer Interns receive an meal stipend of $15/day
Drinks and snacks provided for interns. Pizza lunch provided on Fridays
Earn 35+ hours per week for your Louisiana Department of Education Community Service Endorsement
