Description
Field trips and programs at MSJE are an opportunity for students to learn about a nearby community about which they may know little (in fact, they may not even realize it exists). But the themes and history we spotlight at MSJE are universal and relatable: immigration and diversity, tradition and assimilation, discrimination and identity. At MSJE, students can learn about their city and about themselves through a fresh, novel lens.
Field trips consist of a gallery tour and a 1-hour enrichment program in our classroom. Gallery tours and program options are determined by grade level. Educators may choose the program that best fits their curricular goals.
The Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience explores the many ways that Jews in the American South influenced and were influenced by the distinct cultural heritage of their new homes. Through exhibits, collections and programs focused on the unique and remarkable history of Southern Jews, the Museum encourages new understanding and appreciation for identity, diversity, and acceptance. MSJE offers field trips, lesson plans and programming to students and families throughout the year.
