Description

LDWF's Aquatic Volunteer Instructor Program (VIP) trains participants 18 years and older to become Aquatic Volunteer Instructors through a hands-on workshop run by LDWF staff. Topics that are covered include fish anatomy, fish identification, casting, knot tying, fisheries management, and more. Participants will also need to pass course tests and a background check to become certified. Once certified, volunteer instructors (aka VIPs) have free access to activity guides, lesson plans, fishing equipment, and other educational resources. VIPs are essentially an extension of LDWF's Fisheries and Outreach section and allow LDWF to educate more youth and adults across the state about Louisiana's aquatic and fisheries resources. The information provided in this workshop can easily be incorporated into various fishing and aquatic clinics/events.

This workshop takes place on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 9:00AM-2:00PM at the Mel Ott Multipurpose Center in Gretna, LA (2301 Belle Chase Hwy, Gretna, LA 70053).
