Description

Discover how STEM tools borrowed from our Equipment Lending Co-Op can transform your middle and high school science lessons at our Communities of Practice series, happening on the First Thursday of every month.

This month’s workshop will focus on waves and how to demonstrate how waves behave and function to students. We will explore many tools from the Equipment Lending Co-op to demonstrate to students that waves in fact cause an interaction with objects. By using a speaker to show motion, a boat water, sand on the beach,  and a spectrometer to show light causing motion, students will see how waves can interact with objects. We will explore the typical movement of waves by using a springs and slinkys. Finally, we will look at Spectrometry to show light waves in a spectrum and explore our Spectrum Tubes and other light energy materials.

Our STEM Librarian, Szabi, will guide you through hands-on applications, helping you integrate these tools into your curriculum for science fairs, independent projects, and advanced classroom demonstrations. Sign up now!
