Description

Petroleum has a lot of energy in it. We use more petroleum than any other energy source, providing more than one-third of our energy. Play a petroleum-themed interactive quiz game via Kahoot!* Then student (and teacher) favorite, NEED's Getting the Oil Out activity! Will it be easier to bring up liquid with a long tubing system, or a short tubing system? A fun and excellent engineering visual for students to learn about the relationship between well depth and effort to recover resources. Then play Petroleum Ponder for students to learn just how many everyday items are made with petroleum, a real eye opener! Wrap the visit with Q&A. All activity materials are provided by the Energy Office. Any food products required must be purchased by the participants.

Want something a little more involved? Try the Energy House Challenge! In this two part lesson, students engineer and insulate a home using a cardboard box and materials provided by our office or individually sourced. The sky is the limit with this activity!
