Louisiana State Energy Office
The Energy Office is excited to introduce our newest program, Virtual and In-Classroom Visits for K-12! Engaging and FUN lessons including "Cooking with Solar" where students constructs their very own solar oven and text them by making s'mores or nachos, with the "All About Oil" lesson the students learn about oil by making and testing their very own oil rig, "Renewables and Non-Renewables" students play a NEED Project favorite - Candy Collector, and through the "Saving Energy" lesson K-1st students learn about saving energy at home by making a door hanger and signing an Energy Saver Pledge. Want something a little more involved? Try the Energy House Challenge! In this two part lesson, students engineer and insulate a home using a cardboard box and materials provided by our office or individually sourced. The sky is the limit with this activity! Whose house will be most energy efficient??? Materials for all activities are supplied when possible.
