Greetings Louisiana Educators! My name is Fred Brooks, Jr. and I am a Louisiana native and graduate of Zachary High School’s Class of 1999. I am currently Vice President of Business Development for the Gulf Coast Organization, Sales Operations Manager for Self Publish-N-30 Days, and a Business Development Representative with Kurz Wind Division. One of my passions has always been to create opportunities for our youth and give back to our communities. I have partnered with Gulf Coast Organization, Kurz Wind Division, KidWind, Urban League of Louisiana, Self Publish-N-30 Days, Scotlandville Magnet High School in Baton Rouge, and L.B. Landry High School in New Orleans to bring the KidWind Challenge to my home state of Louisiana for the very first time! Students will be able to work with teachers to build small-scale wind turbines, compete in regional and national events, gain exposure to renewable energy careers, and network with industry professionals as a result of this collaboration. Gulf Coast Organization, KidWind and Urban League of Louisiana are all non-profits, with KidWind also being a STEM program. The KidWind Challenge is geared towards students in grades 4-12 and offers scholarship opportunities for high school seniors. Most importantly, the workshops and trainings for educators to prepare students for this hands-on, real-world experience mentioned in the attached correspondence is 100% free to educators and students! We welcome and encourage all educators to participate and sign up for either the Baton Rouge workshop or New Orleans workshop based on convenience and location by using the registration links below. We look forward to seeing you!
